While at Ranier, we visited Paradise visitors center. For those of you not from Washington, this park is one of the highlights of this beautiful state! The visitors center you see in the background will no longer be there next year. Built in the 60's, it was designed for a tropical paradise, not a snow covered one. They had over 900 inches of snow at Mt. Ranier this year. Much of this had to be shoveled off of the flat portion of the roof. The rangers say they are not sad to see this building go and look forward to the new one opening next year.
The volcanic peak you see in the background here is Mt. Adams. Alpaca Rob and I have climbed this peak only once and attempted a few years back with our dear friends who now live in NC.
This is the inside portion of an "old grove" tree from Grove of the Patriarchs. The kids were pretty amazed by the size of these old trees. It took our family linking hands three times to make it around one of these old trees.
An alpine lily popping through the recently thawed alpine meadow. Our oldest son took this one. He discovered the macro feature on my digital camera and had a great time with all the wild flowers.
