Shopping in Guangzhou

Yes, it was shopping Sunday in China. First we did a swim in the White Swan's lap pool, got back to the room for a skype session with the family back home (though we never could get a hold of them, hopefully we will make contact tomorrow at 5:00 pm their time), had breakfast at the famous White Swan buffet and then Rebecca, our shopping guide for this expedition, took us to "the mall". Now I have been to many malls in the US but I was not prepared for this one. It started out simple enough. We entered a circle of shops with beads, clothing and stuff. But off of this circle you could go two different directions. We started by going to the bead/necklace/gems side. It was amazing the number of shops there were that sold these items. There were five stories of shops and tons of side passages that had even more shops that we didn't even look at in our time on that side. After a mere two hours we were off to the other side which was a mirror image except for the fact that it was modern clothing and luggage stores. It wore us out just looking. Though we did end up buying some stuff too. The whole experience wore me down as the digipic below will a test.

Again the service was excellent, Science Mama had me photo her with the shop attendant who helped her find the discount section, they spoke the same language.

Can you believe five stories of beads and necklaces!!!!

Here is Science Mama after she scores on some jewery buys. We think the gal on the right is what Esther will look like when she is older based on her facial features.

AlpacaRob and Esther both worn out by the "Malling".

Back at the White Swan as the skies opened up on us. It was the afternoon deluge that we have come to expect.
